The Extreme Sailing Series has agreed a five-year apparel supply deal with Zhik, a technical sailing clothing specialist.
The high-performance brand becomes the official clothing partner to the global in-shore sailing circuit, beginning with the season-opening regatta on 8th March to 11th March in Muscat, Oman. It will also have a visible brand presence throughout the series’ eight-Act campaign.
The Zhik Trophy will be awarded to the team that reaches the fastest recorded speed during racing in each Act of the 2017 Extreme Sailing Series. In addition, the company will create official merchandise for the series that will be available to fans in the free-to-enter public race villages and online.
"The whole team at Zhik is super-excited to be working with the Extreme Sailing Series team over the next five years," said David Crow, chief executive of Zhik. "Bringing together Zhik's high-performance disruptive technology in sailing apparel, with the Extreme Sailing Series' speed, power and edgy excitement, is a spectacular combination that we have all discovered in the last few months working together.”
The 2016 Extreme Sailing Series was won by Swiss team Alinghi. They accrued 101 points from their eight Acts, which included the double-points victory in the final regatta in Sydney.
