Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic has become the latest addition to IMG’s tennis stable.
The agency will market and manage the 19-year-old, who was previously represented by Octagon, on a global basis.
A former world junior number one, Bencic made her professional debut in 2011 and has since claimed two WTA Tour titles, both in 2015, the year she reached a career-high ranking of seven.
“I am really excited to sign with IMG, a company that has global reach and expertise across numerous fields,” said Bencic, who finished the 2016 season ranked 42 in the world.
“IMG has turned so many tennis players into global stars, and I am excited to have a great partner in place to help me achieve results off the court as my game progresses.”
The signing of Bencic adds another exciting tennis prospect to IMG’s extensive stable of athlete clients. Since its takeover by WME in 2014, the company has added the likes of Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka and CiCi Bellis to a roster that also includes established stars such as Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
