Rugby League World Cup agrees NZME tie-in

Rugby League World Cup 2017 (RLWC2017) has announced that New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) will be the tournament’s official media partner in New Zealand.

NZME will assist in the promotion of rugby league’s quadrennial international tournament across all media networks: digital, print and radio. The financial terms of the partnership were not released.

“Rugby League is a favourite of sports fans in New Zealand and Kiwis are passionate about the sport,” said Trevor McKewen, NZME’s Head of Sport. “We are excited to be partnering with Rugby League World Cup 2017 to bring the event to fans up and down the country.”

Andrea Nelson, general manager New Zealand RLWC2017, added: “Next year’s RLWC2017 is not just for fans of the sport, it will be an inclusive, family-orientated tournament that gives all New Zealanders the opportunity to experience an international event at affordable prices.

“Our media partnership with NZME presents an exciting opportunity to promote the Rugby League World Cup 2017 to a large audience, across all four corners of the country, using a variety of media platforms.

The RLWC2017 will be played from 27th October to 2nd December 2017 across New Zealand and Australia, with an additional three pool games being played in Papua New Guinea.
