Clemson agrees rights deal with JMI Sports

South Carolina-based Clemson University has signed a major seven-year rights deal with JMI Sports, following a protracted bidding process.

The partnership is worth a total of US$68 million over seven years, and will see JMI market all multimedia and marketing rights for the university.

Learfield had previously been the university’s marketing partner, since 2001, but failed to match the bid proposed by JMI Sports.

The deal will begin in June 2017 and will run through until the end of the 2024 academic year.

Clemson’s football side, the Tigers, look set to make the National College Football Playoffs this year. The team have won all but one game this year, losing 43-42 to Pittsburgh in November.
