Sports marketing agency Smint Sports Group (SSG) has signed a three-year partnership with the Circuit of Wales, rights holder of the UK round of the MotoGP World Championship.
The partnership will cover all elements of race sponsorship –acquisition, official partners and programme activation – through 2019.
In 2014, the Circuit of Wales signed a five-year contract with MotoGP organisers Dorna to host the race between 2015 and 2019. However, due to financial difficulties at the Welsh circuit, Silverstone will once again host the British MotoGP in 2017.
“We are delighted to have been appointed by British MotoGP as an expert partner to support The Circuit of Wales,” said Nigel Mihell, managing director of SSG. “MotoGP is the pinnacle of motor cycle racing and as such, it offers businesses an amazing opportunity to build an association with a global sporting event and engage with its global fan base.
Martin Whitaker, chief executive of The Circuit of Wales, said: “SSG has a proven record in the sponsorship field and the energy and creativity they have presented is very impressive. We saw some fantastic ideas coming forward supported by SSG’s standing in the market place, their enthusiasm and their vision. We look forward to working with them.”
